Healthy, Vegan Mama!

Welcome to my new blog!

I'm starting this blog to document my adventures in converting to a vegan diet and healthier lifestyle. I have been a vegetarian since July 2009 and in doing so, my dairy intake went up by about 75% which did the opposite for my body and health than I wanted it to.
I chose to give up meat for many reasons but my main reason was for my health. I grew up with my older sister being a vegetarian which I feel gave me a great perspective on the choices we have over how we treat animals and our bodies.
Every unhealthy thing that I eat can be directly tracked to meat and dairy products. So, this is it! I'm going 100% vegan. I'm looking forward to feeling healthy, looking healthy and being everything that I can for my almost 5 year old daughter. I want to be a positive role model of a mother to her and that includes being a healthy mama!
Please join me on this adventure as I share my success (and some slips, I'm sure), healthy and tasty recipes, helpful tips and resources.
Goodbye cheese. Goodbye butter. And sadly, goodbye half and half. I will be sad without you but I know I will feel much better.
